The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at former US president George Bush has been sentenced to three years in jail.
His defence lawyer says Muntadher al-Zaidi was making a legitimate protest against the occupation and should never have been treated as a criminal.
His action drew praise and condemnation, both inside and outside Iraq. Al Jazeera's Omar al-Saleh reports.
