Violent Quran burning protests leave 11 injured in Afghanistan

At least 11 people were injured in Afghanistan as thousands protested plans by a tiny Florida church to burn the Muslim holy book. 4 protesters and 5 police were injured in clashes after several hundred demonstrators ran toward a NATO compound in the northern province of Badakhshan. In western Farah province, police said two people were injured in another protest. The Reverend Terry Jones from the Dove Outreach Center in Florida triggered outrage when he promised to burn the Quran on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. He later said the plans had been put on hold.
