Cholera spreads closer to Port-au-Prince

The latest figures from Haiti show a cholera outbreak has now claimed nearly 200 lives, with another 2,300 people reported to be sick. So far the outbreak is concentrated around Saint Marc, north of the capital. However, Al Jazeera has found evidence the disease is spreading closer to Port-au-Prince. Chile's mining perils

Chilean special forces will soon commence a rescue operation to pull out 33 miners who have been trapped underground for more than two months. But while preparations are being made for the rescue, some miners have been telling Al Jazeera that radical changes are needed to make the mining industry safer. They accuse officials of exploitating workers and turning a blind eye to extremely dangerous working conditions. Lucia Newman reports from the remote Atacama desert in Chile.

Video of IDF soldier dancing by bound Palestinian woman sparks scandal

The Israeli army once again stands accused of disregarding the basic human rights of Palestinians. It follows a video being uploaded to YouTube several years ago showing an IDF soldier humiliating a blindfolded, handcuffed Palestinian woman. US syphilis tests in Guatemala 'crime against humanity'

The Guatemalan President says the US committed a crime against humanity when hundreds in his country were deliberately infected with gonorrhea and syphilis more than sixty years ago. America has apologized for the recently unearthed experiment conducted in a psychiatric hospital. The U.S. says it will investigate the case further, before making any decisions on compensation.
