The US Ambassador to Russia, John Beyrle, attended a memorial service held in Moscow's Saint Catherine's Church on Saturday for the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon in the US. In his speech at the memorial service, Ambassador Beyrle said Russia and the U.S. were allies in the fight against what he called 'world terrorism'. Beyrle said that people were mourning the victims of all terror acts around the world. He also mentioned the recent attack in the Russia's south. A suicide car bomber hit the central market of a major city in Russia's North Caucasus on Thursday, killing 17 and wounding more than 140 people.
